The Legend Of Conan On The Way

You can forget last year’s Conan The Barbarian remake.  You can even forget the 1984 sequel to the original film, Conan The Destroyer.  The only movie that matters is the 1982 original Conan The Barbarian starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Universal intends to move forward with The Legend Of Conan starring none other than Mr. Schwarzenegger himself, reprising the role set years after the original film in which Conan is King. Producer Chris Morgan had this to say about the project: “If you remember the original ending, it showed an aged Conan and told the viewer that it was another story for another time.  The Legend Of Conan will be that story.   After the original seminal movie, all that came after looked silly to me. Robert E. Howard’s mythology and some great philosophy from Nietzsche to Atilla the Hun was layered in the original film. People say, he didn’t speak for the first 20 minutes of the film, but that was calculated in depicting this man who takes control of life with his own hand. This movie picks up Conan where Arnold is now in his life, and we will be able to use the fact that he has aged in this story. I love the property of Conan so much that I wouldn’t touch it unless we came up with something worthy. We think this is a worthy successor to the original film. Think of this as Conan’s Unforgiven.“  Morgan may also write the script with the film due in theaters in 2014.  And in case you forgot the scene at the end of the original, here is a shot to help you remember
